Spontaneity Part #1

For me, BMX led to BMX Photography and BMX Photography led to Photography Photography, i.e. Anything. A desire to capture pleasing images. I'm going to display some across a few posts.

Rememberance Day

I only realised when I started writing that this session was on 11/11. In a culture of encouraged apathy it seems like a somewhat fitting way to exercise your freedom to me. Urmston Heads and Mental Will Davis jump for joy on ramps made by BMXers.

Mike Siddall, probably doesn't spell his surname like this.

Gidge, not even going to try and spell his surname.

Will Davis, definately not Davies, OK, Davis, D-A-V-I-S. (It's just that when I put Will's profile up I wrote Davies which he promptly corrected me on. I told him I went to school with a guy obsessive about being called Davies and not Davis, always correcting teachers mid-register and stuff, to this Will sarcastically replied "God I'd hate to be like him").

Update Completed

It's taken me weeks, but the website's finally in my own webspace which gives me complete freedom over what's on here. My biggest gripe, and probably the only difference you'll notice for a while is with the pictures. They're all now much higher quality, which is a lot more fitting seeing as though they're main purpose of the site anyway. The only down side to this is the file sizes, with a broadband connection you shouldn't be too bothered, but unfortunately if your dial-up you'll probably hate this site. I'll try and get back on track with the posting later on today and everything should get back to normal.

Oh yeah, me and Will have e-mail on here now too, so you can abuse that as you please.

Finally

It's took some time but Gain Online is now back on www.gain-online.com, back of the net! Shown below is the main reason why, hopefully the difference in image quality is glaringly obvious and my money wont have been wasted. I want to change everything on here too, but only time will tell how easy that is to do.

This is the guitarist (duh!) from Stretch Armstrong when they played at the Star & Garter a few weeks ago. If I can make my mind up which other pictures I like from this show I'll put up some more.

Bonfire Action

Taking photographs of Fireworks is really hard. There's nothing to focus on, you can't keep the camera still enough, you can't select an aperture/film speed that works for everything and that's before you even begin with shutter duration. And then you only do it one day a year, so I cant see me getting too good at this for a decade or so. Out of maybe 70 pictures this was my best:

I'm quite stoked actually because it was the biggest rocket we had, I thought I'd buckle under the pressure but it was quite the opposite.

This was exciting, and hopefully the closest I'll ever get to a mortor attack. It was actually shooting right through the crowd and hitting the neighbours house whilst exploding, it couldn't have been aimed better. I took this before realising just how close to danger I was.

I forget how much I like fire.

Halloween Was Here

'Was' rather than 'Is' because the countdown is long over and I should have posted this lot days ago. I've been stalling because I was hoping to get this site back on www.gain-online.com, all fresh and with high resolution images. Plans then became somewhat more ambitous for the new site and some problems arose too, it seems this incarnation will be around for a while yet anyway. Here was Halloween:

Predictable

Damn we need to make a film! The following pictures are courtesy of Mels camera:

Buff

Brilliant

Cousin It

Partridge

Massive head

Dead Mime Artists? Actually thats the scariest thing I've ever thought of

Mel had Goths telling her she looked "absolutely beautiful". And to think someone thought I was Beetlejuice....BEETLEJUICE!!!!
