Christmas Trip #3

I took and then deleted so many bad pictures of these icicles, in the end this was the best shot I left with.

The 12hr trip from Risoul to Paris, this was from somewhere in the first 70 miles which took us 4hrs due to the snow.

This is the view from the highest point of the mountain looking back into the valley, the resort is at the bottom left of the picture.

This is a pretty boring picture without knowing whats going on, but in 16 years of skiing holidays I've never seen this in the making- The higher you go the colder it gets, here the freezing level of the snow was about 100ft above where we were driving, you could actually see snow falling, but just above us it was turning to rain.

Mel on our 5th of 6 crossings this year, making use of quite possibly the best outdoor deck of any cross-channel ferry, just look at that seating capacity!

Christmas Trip #2

Long-exposure view from our balcony

Suggest to Mel she should take a picture of the row of almost identical trees, and she puts it in motordrive and gives you 20!

Christmas Trip #1

So Will's been holding the fort for the past 11 days whilst I've been off with family & Mel, skiing and snowboarding in Risoul, France. A short trip than our previous one at a measly 2000 miles. It was rammed with goodness, despite a crazy start- after 3 weeks of uni work (mentioned in previous posts) overran by a few hours, we arrived at the first hotel only 6 1/2hrs before leaving it. After that though there was lots of ace stuff like spending Christmas Day Snowboarding, eating too much food and Disneyland Paris on the way home. A few posts of trip pictures:

Property Culture

It feels like I've been sat in front of this computer for the best part of 2 weeks. I've had so much work on, I'm kidding myself really because it's still on now. I've got 4000 words of discussing the paradox between long and short-term operations management to do in 2 1/2 days before I leave on holiday. I'm sure 10 days skiing will make it seem worth it. Anyway, I really like this random selection thing at the moment plus I haven't got many recent riding pictures due to the work load so here we go again:

Get It Together

I don't know why I'm writing this, I have nothing to say. I'm abusing the website as a means of putting off doing my lab report. Its becoming habitual, I stopped work last night too, it was just for long enough to go and see the Beastie Boys show at the MEN Arena with Tommy and Clarky. What a belter! Good to see some different music for a change and as a Beastie Boys junkie from the age of 15 - 18 it was never going to be anything short of brilliant anyway.
It's Will's Birthday tomorrow so throw eggs at him and all that. I'll put a picture of him up supposedly in recognition, but really to try and prompt him to post something. He reckons he's doing 20,000 word essays or something, I'm not having any (NE) of it.

Will not doing an Air or a 180, wait a minute an Air is a 180! - 20/11/2004

Spontaneity Part #2

There's a bit more to say with the photographs I've picked for part #2.

Play Mobile make the best finger BMXs ever, this guy was the un-required part from the cycling Policeman set. I noticed the early morning sun falling on him and took a few pictures. I tried to take some more 2 minutes later but the sun had changed and the moment had gone - 30/11/2004

The best thing about using digital and being able to shoot as much as you want, is when you let someone else take pictures for a while. This wasn't taken by me, I suspect it was taken by Tommy Gore, but what's interesting to me is that I would never have seen the composition like this. It really proves to you that beyond the technicalities of photography the majority of the art is in the placement of frames around what you see - 12/10/2004

This is the Christmas Tree at the road junction in Styal. I was driving past and noticed it the other night then continued to drive back past it about 3 times till I found somewhere to pull over. I felt daft for messing around so much but I've wanted to take a picture like this for awhile now - 30/11/2004

I'm sure I'm not alone in my fascination of this building front (it's near Manchester Metropolitan University). I can imagine that for the era in which it was made, it kind of more helps mock the deaf & dumb by announcing to the general public that this was their building. Like how a big 'Mental Institute' sign would serve towards peoples fear of the mentally ill in an old horror film. How many Mental Institutes do you with massive signs these days? Suppose thats why I find this building front wierd - 19/11/2004
