Just a bit of music related news to share for now. First up, there's a free show happening this weekend. I don't have a clue how a free show works out, especially when the headlining band has come all the way from America. I'm not about to start complaining though. I've been told Defiance, Ohio sound a little like Against Me! which could be good, and I've just got Dugong's latest CD which seems to be as good as their other two. It could definitely be worth checking this out, the ingredients are certainly all there. This was taken off the Manchester Shows website:
Sunday 22nd May 2005
DEFIANCE, OHIO (usa, plan-it-x records)
THE DAUNTLESS ELITE (leeds, plan-it-x records)
DUGONG (wakefield)
THE WARLORD (wakefield)
CORNISH TIN MINES (manchester)
+ vegan picnic!
upstairs @ the phoenix
(off oxford road, near
the university bridge)
4-8pm - FREE
There's another really good show coming up too, this one isn't free but it does have Beecher and These Arms Are Snakes. Beecher are getting pretty big these days, and Ed who sings is like a British Jim Carrey. These Arms Are Snakes kind of sound like a psychedelic Fugazi, which probably seems awful but it works really well, I'm really stoked about getting to see them. This was stolen from the Roadkill Records website:
Thursday June 2nd @ Satans Hollow, Silver Street, Manchester
THESE ARMS ARE SNAKES - awesome tech prog rock from the US on Jade Tree records
www.thesearmsaresnakes.com
BEECHER - Local metal bastards on Earche, first Manc gig for ages, should be ace

FIGHTING SHIT - Awesome intense passionate thrashcore from Iceland

£5 on the door, time to be confirm
Finally, if you like Bane their new CD 'The Note' has just come out. I've only listened to it all the way through twice, and it seems a little softer and less 'metal' than there previous album, but I'm sure I'll still come to love it. I must add that it really does have a lot to live up to though; 'Give Blood' was amazing.
I don't know what this has to do with music, I'm sure it's better to look at than that essay I've just written though. More extension tube use:
